As a ranch broker, ag business specialist and fly fishing outfitter, the relationship between agriculture and recreation and its effect on the ever changing landscape of the West has always been a passion for Jim Toth. With over 30 years of experience in water/land resource assessment, land and business development, outfitting and ranch sales in the northern Rockies, Jim's career reflects his love of the outdoors and deep respect for the American West.
Introduced at a young age to fishing and hunting, Jim studied Agronomy as an undergraduate at the University of Missouri-Columbia followed by graduate studies in Agricultural Business. Lured by Monsanto Agricultural Products Company to Montana, Jim's work as a field representative introduced him to the beauty, wide-open spaces, farms, ranches and timberland of Montana where he settled to raise a family and lead a successful career in outfitting and ranch sales.
Jim founded and operated one of Montana's largest fly fishing outfitters, shop and lodge - Grizzly Hackle Fishing Co. – for fourteen seasons before partnering in the Silver Bow Club, a shared fishing and hunting ranch development with ranch holdings on the Big Hole and Beaverhead Rivers. He was involved in the ranches' agricultural and recreational operations, conservation easement assessment, development and marketing. Settling into ranch real estate sales, Jim, over the next eight years, consistently set new marks in sales while expanding markets and territories throughout Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon.
His farm and ranch sales experience, agricultural/recreational business expertise and passion for the western lifestyle allow Jim to provide unequaled client representation. His diverse clientele range from original homestead ranch families to equity fund investors, passionate fly fishermen to production oriented ag buyers. Jim resides with his family, horses and dogs on 80 acres on the East Gallatin River just north of Bozeman where he enjoys fly-fishing, bird hunting and riding.
