Colorado Cattle Ranch and Horse Ranch

The 105-acre East Cherry Creek Ranch ranch is located conveniently midway between Denver and Colorado Springs and all of the conveniences of city life, but is still far enough out to have all the advantages of country living. Currently used as a cattle ranch, the property would make a good equestrian ranch and an excellent home site with outstanding views of the Front Range and the Rocky Mountains from Pikes Peak to the mountains north of Denver. The acreage lies just across the southeast Douglas County line into Elbert County where property taxes are lower than the counties that Denver and Colorado Springs are located. The historical Cherokee Trail that was first used in the early 1830's passes through the ranch and the old wagon ruts, swales, can still be seen.

Historical Information:
The Cherokee Trail that was first used in the early 1830's passes through the 105-acre ranch and the old wagon ruts, swales, can still be seen. The historical Cherokee Trail was the first wagon road along the Front Range of Colorado's Rocky Mountains.

Just off the Cherokee Trail and within a short distance from this ranch is a Blackfoot Indian Cave that was discovered by travelers on the Cherokee Trail in 1842. The cave and Blackfoot Indian camp quickly became a landmark for travelers along the trail, and over the years sheltered travelers from sudden weather changes. The cave and historical Indian camp is along a small affluent of Cherry Creek surrounded by large cottonwood trees. The traveler that first discovered it was looking for shelter from a winter snow storm. He named it Blackfoot Spring. The cave is not on the 105 acres, but within the development and is within a quarter mile of the East Cherry Creek Ranch. Douglas County has recently bought the site for historical preservation.
