The sale and purchase of the Bell Ranch located in Northeastern New Mexico was completed on August 17, 2010.
This singular offering was comprised of 290,100 acres of deeded contiguous land most of which is situated in San Miguel County and located about 40 miles north of Tucumcari and 150 miles east of Santa Fe.
Knowledgeable sources indicate that this transaction is the largest single sale of blocked up deeded ranch land to occur in the Western United States during the past 60 years.
This sale ends the Seller’s successful 40-year commitment in carefully preserving and growing the classic ranching tradition possessed by this renowned and iconic land holding.
While details were not disclosed, the Buyer has indicated strong interest in maintaining and enhancing the Bell Ranch as one of the most historic and admired cattle operations – established in 1824 – in the Nation.
The Seller was served by Patrick Bates, broker for Bates Sanders Swan Land Company headquartered in Salt Lake City.
