Beautiful High Country Colorado Cattle and Recreation Ranch
Composed of 3,647 acres Elk Park Ranch is located in Park County, the geographical most central part of the State of Colorado. This beautiful high country ranch has fantastic views of many well-known mountain ranges and has 360 views at the top of most of the ridges on the property. With proper management the ranch will support 130 cow calf units six months out of the year.
The ranch is currently used for ranching as well as recreational purposes. There are many beautiful building sites, and the ranch has more than one old pioneer log cabin. The property has no restrictions, and carries an agricultural use property tax status. Property taxes are only $330 per year.
Improvements on the ranch include a set of cattle working pens, good perimeter and cross fencing, two windmills, gravity flow water piping system, a few developed springs and a storage building. Water is supplied to the ranch by the two windmills, a few streams flowing through the property, gravity flow water lines to 7 water troughs and two small dams on the streams. The owners of the ranch own water rights and mineral rights and all of these owned rights will convey.
The grasses on the ranch are typical of Colorado high prairie desert. The ranch has a healthy forest of bristlecone pine, aspen, blue spruce and Douglas-fir. Some of the bristlecone pines are estimated by a licensed forester to be close to 2,000 years old.
Wildlife on the ranch is plentiful and especially elk. Elk Park Ranch gets its name from the large number of elk that frequent the property as well as the property being as beautiful as a park. Mule deer, antelope, mountain lions, Lynx, coyotes, fox and bear can also be found here. Elk Park Ranch is very private and no other structures can be seen from the ranch.
The acreage of Elk Park ranch is composed of 1,923 deeded acres, 610 Bureau of Land Management grazing lease, 955 acres leased from the State of Colorado and 159 acres of private land lease.
