The private paradise is surrounded by National Forest and BLM lands, rising from 8400 to 9200 feet. From the high meadows, surrounded by pine and aspen forests, you can see Snowmass and the Maroon Bells near Aspen to the south; Arrowhead, Beaver Creek, Vail and the Gore Range to the west. The northern border of the ranch is spectacular Deep Creek Canyon, which is the subject of a wilderness study currently under consideration as an addition to the White River Wilderness. The ranch controls the trail access to Deep Creek and its magnificent 1500 to 2000 foot canyon walls that harbor an abundance of wildlife including excellent fishing for native Rainbow and Brown Trout along its undisturbed 12 mile run.
Wilderness Ranch is located on 8 miles northwest of Dotsero, Colorado on Coffee Pot Road which is a main access to the Flattops National Forest from the Vail Valley. Take 301 Rd north 2 miles along the Colorado River to Coffee Pot Rd (CR17). The lower gate is 6 miles from the turnoff just inside the Garfield County Line. Vail/Eagle County Airport, the main air service to the Vail Valley is just 15 miles east of Dotsero. Airlines servicing Vail/Eagle County Airport with non-stop flights include American, Continental, Delta, Northwest and United Airlines. Beaver Creek Ski Area is 37 miles and Vail is 45. Denver, Colorado is an easy 80 mile drive from Vail via I-70.
Wilderness Ranch is an inholding surrounded by National Forest and the Flat Tops Wilderness on one side and BLM lands on the other three. It is one of the largest available acreages in the Vail Valley. The Flat Tops Wilderness Area is the 2nd largest wilderness area in Colorado and features an abundance of fishing and excellent big game hunting during the fall. The northern border of the ranch is spectacular Deep Creek Canyon, which is the subject of a Wilderness Study currently under consideration as an addition to the White River Wilderness. The ranch controls the trail access to Deep Creek and its magnificent 1500 to 200 foot canyon walls that harbor an abundance of wildlife including excellent fishing for native Rainbow and Brown Trout along its undisturbed 12 miles. Wilderness Ranch has the only foot access to Deep Creek other than the top or bottom of the Canyon. The current owners are currently building a road to the bottom of Deep Creek that will provide vehicular access.
